Vancouverites and their picket signs were out again in full force this morning to demonstrate against the Harper government’s decision to extend Canada’s combat mission in Afghanistan through December 2011. The decision proved controversial and largely unpopular, with an estimated fifty percent of voters nationwide opposing the two year extension.
Joining the hundreds strong throng of anti-war protestors outside the Vancouver Art Gallery were speakers from the New Democratic Party and a rare performance from legendary punk rockers DOA.

The fountains were sudsed with laundry detergent, which the strong winds picked up and snowed down on the rally.
